Collectors & Filters works with SLY Inc. to bring their dust collection and wet scrubber systems to manufacturers throughout Indiana and the Midwest. We help you spec the right SLY system for your application and connect you with the support you need.
SLY Inc. has been engineering dust control since 1874. They hold the very first patent ever issued for cloth-type dust collectors. Unlike mass-produced equipment, their in-house manufacturing delivers customized solutions for your exact application. You get 99%+ collection efficiency and tool-free maintenance without the production shutdowns.
151 years of dust control expertise. That is not marketing fluff. SLY manufactures everything in-house with ISO 9001 certification. No outsourcing. No compromises. Their TubeJet pulse-jet baghouses clean online while you keep running. Their Impinjet scrubbers capture particulates and gases simultaneously. One piece of equipment doing two jobs. Every unit is built for your specific process, not pulled off a shelf.
Key Specifications & Benefits
Online Cleaning Technology: TubeJet baghouses pulse-clean filters while operating at full capacity. No shutdowns. Facilities recover operating hours annually.
Tool-Free Bag Changeouts: Snap-ring assembly enables single-technician bag replacement in under 5 minutes. Annual labor savings versus traditional bolted designs.
Dual-Function Impinjet Scrubbers: 99%+ particulate removal at 5 microns plus gas absorption in one unit. Eliminates the need for separate scrubber systems and cuts capital cost.
ASME Code-Stamped Construction: All-welded housings rated to 500°F and 5+ PSI. Built for foundries, chemical plants, pharmaceutical facilities, and high-temperature dryer exhaust. For applicable high-temperature and pressure-rated designs.
Why Choose SLY Dust Collectors?
Reliability matters. Whether you are running grain handling operations or chemical manufacturing processes, you need equipment that meets NFPA 652/654, NFPA 68/69, and ATEX standards.
SLY systems integrate seamlessly into your existing process and protect your bottom line with extended filter life, reduced compressed air consumption, and minimal water usage on wet scrubbers.

SLY Inc. is a heavy-industrial air pollution control equipment manufacturer headquartered in Strongsville, Ohio, with manufacturing operations in Mathiston, Mississippi. Founded in 1874, SLY holds the very first patent ever issued for cloth-type dust collectors—a 151-year track record that few manufacturers in any industry can claim. They produce dust collectors, industrial wet scrubbers, and specialty filtration equipment for some of the most demanding process environments in manufacturing and heavy industry.
SLY's dust collector line includes the TubeJet pulse-jet baghouse (their flagship product), vertical cartridge filter collectors, reverse air collectors, and cyclone dust collectors. They also retrofit and upgrade existing collectors from any manufacturer, and support legacy Sly equipment including older Dynaclone, Pactecon, and shaker-cleaned units with parts and service. All major components are fabricated in-house rather than outsourced.
The TubeJet is SLY's proprietary pulse-jet baghouse design that cleans filter bags online while the unit is running at full capacity without requiring a shutdown. Most baghouses require either compartment isolation or full shutdown to pulse-clean effectively. The TubeJet also features a tool-free snap-ring bag assembly that allows a single technician to replace bags in under five minutes. For high-production facilities where downtime is measured in tens of thousands of dollars per hour, this design is a meaningful operational advantage. TubeJet systems handle capacities of 50 to 200,000 CFM.
A reverse air collector (RAC) cleans filter bags by periodically reversing the airflow through them rather than using pulse-jet cleaning with compressed air. This makes reverse air the preferred choice when compressed air is limited or expensive, when the dust is delicate and would be damaged by pulse cleaning, or when energy consumption is a primary concern. SLY's RAC line is well suited to large industrial operations in cement, fly ash, mining, and chemical processing where compressed air systems cannot reliably support a pulse-jet design.
The Impinjet is SLY's signature wet scrubber design. Unlike dry dust collectors that capture particulate in filter media, wet scrubbers use water to capture both particulate and soluble gases simultaneously in a single unit. The Impinjet achieves 99%+ particulate removal at 5 microns and can absorb gaseous contaminants like hydrogen chloride, ammonia, or sulfur dioxide at the same time. This eliminates the need for separate scrubber systems and is particularly valuable when both particulate and gas-phase pollutants must be controlled under one permit limit.
In addition to the Impinjet, SLY manufactures Venturi wet scrubbers for high-efficiency submicron particulate capture, Eductor scrubbers for low-pressure applications where no external fan is required, Packed Tower scrubbers for gas absorption applications requiring high contact time, and FRP (fiberglass reinforced plastic) wet scrubbers for highly corrosive environments where steel construction is not appropriate.
Wet scrubbers are the right choice when the air stream contains both particulate and soluble gases that must both be controlled, when the dust is sticky, hygroscopic, or would blind a dry filter rapidly, when the process involves high-temperature exhaust that would damage filter media, when the dust presents a fire or explosion risk that wet suppression mitigates, or when water-based collection is acceptable for the waste stream. For purely dry, free-flowing dust in a standard temperature range, a dry baghouse or cartridge collector is typically more economical to operate.
SLY offers one of the broadest filter bag media selections in the industry, including polyester, polypropylene, nylon, acrylic, cotton, aramid (for high-temperature and spark-resistant applications), fiberglass (for extreme temperatures up to 500°F), P-84 polyimide, PPS (polyphenylene sulfide for chemical resistance), and Teflon. Their SlyMax high-efficiency felt media and a full range of filter bag finishes including PTFE membrane, antistatic treatment, and fire-retardant coatings are also available. Media selection depends on dust chemistry, operating temperature, moisture content, and required filtration efficiency.
Yes. SLY's retrofit program covers both their own legacy equipment and collectors from other manufacturers. Their engineers evaluate the existing unit, identify performance gaps or compliance shortfalls, and specify upgrades which may include new filter media, updated pulse-jet controls, hopper modifications, explosion protection additions, or partial or complete housing replacement. In many cases a retrofit delivers current-generation performance at a fraction of new equipment cost.
Yes. SLY has specific combustible dust and explosion protection expertise and has been providing NFPA-compliant systems since before OSHA was authorized to enforce NFPA 652 and 654 standards. Their engineers can assist with dust hazard analysis, explosion vent sizing, isolation valve selection, suppression system integration, and documentation for permitting and compliance audits. This is one area where SLY's depth of experience is a clear advantage over general-purpose equipment suppliers.
SLY serves cement and asphalt, chemicals, metalworking, mining and minerals, food processing, pharmaceuticals, biomass, carbon black, fly ash, lithium processing, oil and gas, plastics, and powder and bulk solids industries. Their equipment is designed for environments where temperature, chemistry, volume, or regulatory requirements exceed what standard off-the-shelf dust collectors can handle.
