 Flex-Kleen Dust Collectors

Founded in 1959 Flex-Kleen has over 100,000 dust collectors in service worldwide, many still operating after 40 or more years. The product line covers pulse-jet baghouse collectors, cartridge collectors, bin vents, high-pressure collection, and high-vacuum collection, with systems ranging from 30 CFM to 100,000 CFM.

CECO Environmental Flex-Kleen’s engineering depth covers the most demanding technical challenges in industrial dust collection and applications where standard catalog equipment fails. Corrosive process environments. Sanitary food and pharmaceutical requirements. Combustible dusts requiring NFPA-compliant explosion protection.

Low bulk density materials and high temperature and high vacuum applications. Where other equipment has failed, Flex-Kleen systems are frequently the correct solution. What fits for your Indiana facility? We figure that out for you here at Collectors & Filters.

Flex-Kleen iSeries Cartridge Dust Collector

The iSeries is Flex-Kleen’s current-generation plug-and-play cartridge collector, a heavy-duty construction rated for Kst 400 St-3 combustible dusts with explosion vent panel enclosure built in, NFPA 68 compliant. The horizontal filter layout provides tool-free, ground-level filter access without reaching into vertical housings, a meaningful maintenance safety improvement over conventional cartridge designs.

The iSeries is designed for fast deployment without sacrificing performance or compliance, covering chemicals, metal processing, woodworking, mining, plastics, pharmaceuticals, food and beverage, and electronics applications.

Flex-Kleen Pulse-Jet Baghouse Collectors

For high-volume applications, continuous duty, and process conditions that exceed cartridge collector limits, Flex-Kleen pulse-jet baghouses handle dust loads from small production systems through large-scale industrial operations. Reverse pulse-jet cleaning maintains filter performance without interrupting production.

Filter media options cover standard polyester felt through high-temperature woven fabrics and specialty materials for aggressive chemical environments.

Flex-Kleen Replacement Parts

Flex-Kleen replacement parts are available for all makes and models of filtration equipment, not just Flex-Kleen units. Filters, cages, pleated and cartridge media, diaphragm valves, solenoid valves, timers, gauges, and miscellaneous hardware.

If you have a legacy Flex-Kleen unit, a hard-to-find component for an older system, or need cross-reference parts for equipment from other manufacturers, contact us. We find what other distributors can’t.

Fisher-Klosterman High-Efficiency Cyclone Dust Collectors

Fisher-Klosterman has been designing custom air pollution control and product recovery equipment since 1948. Their XQ Series cyclones are the primary industrial cyclone design in use today developed through research to achieve collection efficiencies high enough to eliminate the need for downstream baghouse filtration in many applications. Fisher-Klosterman’s guaranteed performance is backed by sophisticated modeling when complete operating data is provided, not estimated from generic efficiency curves.

XQ Series High-Efficiency Cyclones

Fisher-Klosterman offers seven models in the XQ Series. All covering different levels from standard industrial separation through ultra-high efficiency for fine particulate and product recovery applications. Units are available from miniature collectors through units large enough to require field assembly.

Dual, quad, and multiple-cyclone arrangements address height restrictions or increase collection efficiency. Common inlet manifolds, outlet manifolds, and hoppers simplify ductwork connections for multi-cyclone installations.

Construction options include carbon steel, stainless steel, and any required alloy. Fisher-Klosterman cyclone designs exceed NFPA explosion containment and venting standards. Severe service applications include high temperature, high pressure, erosive particulate, corrosive gases, are Fisher-Klosterman’s core competency, not edge cases.

CECO HEE-Duall Mist Elimination

Most CNC mist problems get solved with a machine-mounted collector. But if you’re running hard chrome plating, anodizing, or any process that generates hexavalent chromium, you need something different. Standard coalescing media degrades in those environments and won’t meet OSHA’s hexavalent chromium exposure limits. That’s where HEE-Duall mist collector comes in, their HEXmaster® and HEPA-HEX™ systems are EPA-tested specifically for those applications, built in corrosion-resistant FRP and PVC rather than steel.

  • HEXmaster®: 3-stage dry scrubber design: can be upgraded to wet scrubber; ideal for oil mists, alkaline mists, and part washing operations
  • HEPA-HEX™: HEPA-rated composite mesh: EPA performance tested and guaranteed for hexavalent chromium, hard chrome plating, and anodizing
  • Construction: Corrosion-resistant PVC and FRP: handles chromic acid, sulfuric acid, nickel, cyanide, and phosphoric acid mists
  • Lowest Pressure Drop: HEXTRACK single composite mesh pad system minimizes energy consumption and maintenance costs
  • Hood Systems: Hoods, ducting, and push-air systems available for complete source capture at the machine enclosure
  • Manufacturer: CECO Environmental HEE-Duall division, Lennon, MI

Why us for the Complete CECO Environmental Portfolio Matters

Standard industrial distributors carry one product type  baghouses, or cyclones, or scrubbers and recommend what they sell regardless of whether it is the correct technology for the application. We supply the complete CECO Environmental portfolio, which means we recommend the correct technology for your specific application without being constrained to a single product line.

  • A plastics compounder in Columbus with combustible polymer dust gets a Flex-Kleen iSeries with Kst 400 explosion protection.
  • A foundry in Terre Haute with high-temperature abrasive dust gets a Fisher-Klosterman XQ Series cyclone in alloy steel.
  • A large-scale industrial operation with a heavy dust load in Fort Wayne gets a Fisher-Klosterman cyclone as a primary separator feeding a Flex-Kleen baghouse.

We match the technology to the application, not the application to the technology we happen to stock.

KB Duct — Modular Industrial Ducting

Kirk & Blum, which has been fabricating industrial sheet metal since 1907. Today KB Duct is one of the most complete modular industrial ducting lines available, offering three distinct system types to match any application:

  • Clamp-Together Duct — Available from 3″ to 24″ diameter in 22-gauge to 10-gauge steel depending on diameter. Applicable to virtually every dust collection system including wood, paper, chemical, fume, oil mist, and abrasive applications.
  • The standard n-butyl rubber gasket covers 95% of applications; FDA silicone is available for food and high-temperature service; Viton and ePTFE gasket materials handle the aggressive chemical applications where standard rubbers would fail. Note: clamp-together should not be used for heavy concentrations of liquid or for positive-pressure dust conveyance, those applications use flanged duct.
  • Welded Flanged Duct — Available in lengths up to 20 feet, material up to 1/4″ thick, seam-welded on 16-gauge and heavier material and on diameters 25″ and above. The heavy industrial end of the ducting spectrum foundries, cement plants, sand and coal conveying, and other severe abrasive applications.

The KB Duct Series 1000 Clamp is their proprietary joining hardware, galvanized steel with an extra-large handle designed for true one-handed operation, built to be opened, repositioned, and re-clamped repeatedly without losing holding force.

CECO Kirk & Blum — Custom Fabrication and Turnkey Installation

Frequently Asked Questions About CECO Products

Why choose CECO Environmental over other industrial air quality brands?

CECO Environmental brings three specialized brands under one roof: Flex-Kleen for dry particulate and combustible dust, Fisher-Klosterman for high-temperature and abrasive cyclone separation, and HEE-Duall for mist elimination and wet scrubbing. For Indiana facilities with complex or hazardous air quality requirements, CECO is one of the few manufacturers where a single rep relationship covers dry dust, wet mist, and everything in between. Collectors & Filters provides that single point of contact.

When do I need an engineered dust collection system instead of a standard system?

You need an engineered system like CECO when your application involves high temperatures, corrosive materials, extremely heavy dust loading, or compliance-driven requirements that standard dust collectors cannot reliably handle. Standard systems work for general industrial use, but engineered systems are designed for complex or high-risk processes where performance and durability are critical. See our industrial dust collection guide for help identifying which category your application falls into.

What CECO Environmental systems are best for Indiana manufacturing plants?

For Indiana automotive and metal fabrication, Flex-Kleen iSeries cartridge collectors handle weld fume and grinding dust. For foundries and heavy manufacturing, Fisher-Klosterman XQ Series cyclones feeding Flex-Kleen baghouses handle high dust loads. For food, grain, and plastics with combustible dust exposure, Flex-Kleen Kst 400 rated collectors meet NFPA 660 requirements. For hard chrome plating and anodizing, HEE-Duall HEPA-HEX mist eliminators meet OSHA hexavalent chromium standards. Contact us at 317-910-1497 for application-specific recommendations.

How do I choose between Flex-Kleen, Fisher-Klosterman, and HEE-Duall for my application?

Choose Flex-Kleen for dry particulate, combustible dust with NFPA explosion protection, or sanitary food and pharmaceutical dust. Choose Fisher-Klosterman for heavy abrasive particulate, high dust loads, high temperatures, or product recovery. Choose HEE-Duall for mists, acid or alkaline aerosols, hexavalent chromium, or gas streams where dry filtration does not apply. Many Indiana facilities use two or all three together. Collectors & Filters specs across all three without being constrained to a single product line.

When should I use a CECO scrubber vs a dust collector?

Dust collectors capture dry particulate using filter media or centrifugal separation. Scrubbers capture gas streams, acid mists, soluble contaminants, and sticky or hygroscopic particulate that would blind a dry filter. Choose a Flex-Kleen baghouse or Fisher-Klosterman cyclone for dry dust. Choose a HEE-Duall wet scrubber when the process generates corrosive gases, acid or alkaline mists, or sticky aerosols.

Do CECO systems meet NFPA 660 requirements for combustible dust?

Yes. The Flex-Kleen iSeries is Kst 400 and St-3 rated, handling the most explosive dust classifications in North America. Flex-Kleen baghouses and cartridge collectors configure with NFPA 68 explosion venting, NFPA 69 suppression and isolation, abort gates, and spark detection to meet NFPA 660 requirements. NFPA 660 became effective December 6, 2024 and eliminated grandfathering of legacy collectors. Contact us for a facility-specific review.

Is Flex-Kleen the right choice for pharmaceutical and cGMP manufacturing?

Yes, and for most pharmaceutical applications it is the only choice on our line card. Granulation, tableting, milling, API handling, and blending operations require cGMP-compliant dust collection with BIBO filter change-out, ASME-code pressure vessels, and sanitary construction. Flex-Kleen builds to those standards. None of the other brands we represent are designed for pharmaceutical cGMP environments.

Can Flex-Kleen handle battery and EV manufacturing applications?

Yes. Battery electrode manufacturing and lithium powder processing involve some of the most aggressive combustible particulate in any industrial application. The Flex-Kleen iSeries is Kst 400 and St-3 rated, covering the most explosive dust classifications under NFPA 660 Chapter 22 for combustible metals. Indiana and Michigan are currently the center of a major EV and battery manufacturing buildout. Contact us with your process details.

When is a Fisher-Klosterman XQ Series cyclone the right choice over a baghouse?

The XQ Series is the correct primary separator when filter media would fail due to high dust loading, when abrasive particulate would destroy bags or cartridges, when process temperatures exceed media ratings, or when product recovery without media contamination is required. In heavy-duty applications, the best design is often a Fisher-Klosterman cyclone feeding a Flex-Kleen baghouse as secondary filtration.

When should I use a cyclone vs a baghouse dust collector?

A cyclone separates heavy chips and coarse particulate using centrifugal force with no filter media, making it ideal as a pre-cleaner. The baghouse captures the fine residual dust the cyclone passes through. For high-volume applications with mixed coarse and fine dust, the combination extends filter life and reduces operating costs. Collectors & Filters sizes both components together as a complete system.

What is the difference between a mist eliminator and a mist collector?

A mist collector is a machine-mounted unit that draws contaminated air through coalescing or centrifugal filter media to capture oil and coolant mist at the source. A mist eliminator like the HEE-Duall HEXmaster is a hood-and-duct system using composite mesh pad technology. Mist eliminators are the correct choice for corrosive mists, acid mists, alkaline mists, and hexavalent chromium applications where coalescing media would degrade.

When do I need a HEPA-rated mist eliminator for hexavalent chromium?

If your facility performs hard chrome plating, decorative chrome plating, anodizing, or any process generating hexavalent chromium mist, OSHA's standard (29 CFR 1910.1026) requires engineering controls to reduce exposure below 5 micrograms per cubic meter. A standard oil mist collector is not adequate. The HEE-Duall HEPA-HEX system is EPA performance tested and meets federal emission standards for hexavalent chromium capture.

When should I use KB Duct clamp-together versus flanged ductwork?

Clamp-together is correct for most dust collection installations with diameters from 3 to 24 inches, negative-pressure systems, and applications involving wood, paper, chemical fume, oil mist, and most abrasive dusts. It installs faster and allows reconfiguration without cutting or welding. Flanged duct is specified for positive-pressure conveyance, diameters above 24 inches, or high-abrasion service like foundries and cement plants. See our full KB Duct clamp-together ductwork line for options.
