Explosion Vent Panel for Dust Collectors

Certified Burst Ratings from 1.45 PSI to 7.0 PSI for Pmax Pressure Relief

Standard Explosion Vent Panel systems provide a passive, high-speed rupture solution designed to fail at precise pressures before dust collector walls reach their structural limit. These single-use devices ensure designed in accordance with NFPA 68 and supports NFPA 654 deflagration venting requirements standards by safely venting flames and pressure away from the facility. Constructed from 316L stainless steel, they offer long-term durability and moisture resistance for critical industrial safety applications.

Engineered for Pressure Relief in Outdoor Baghouses and Cyclone Separators

An explosion vent panel is a passive pressure relief device installed on a dust collector, cyclone, silo, or conveyor to protect against deflagration events. When internal pressure hits the panel’s burst threshold, it opens in milliseconds and releases pressure away from people and equipment. No electrical power or battery backup required. We supply explosion vent panels through Boss Products in two configurations: flat panels for standard low-vacuum systems, and domed panels for high-vacuum applications and pulse-jet cleaned collectors. The right panel depends on your collector’s operating vacuum level and cleaning mechanism.

Who This Is For

Explosion vent panels are required any time combustible dust is present and a vessel needs pressure relief protection under NFPA 68. Common applications we see in Indiana facilities include:
  • Wood processing and cabinet shops with baghouse or cartridge collectors
  • Food and grain handling facilities with silos, cyclones, or bucket elevators
  • Metal grinding and finishing operations
  • Plastics and rubber processing
  • Any facility replacing failed or aging vent panels on existing equipment

Problems This Solves

  • Prevents catastrophic structural failure of a dust collector or vessel during a deflagration event
  • Brings existing equipment into compliance with NFPA 68 explosion venting requirements
  • Eliminates premature panel failure on pulse-jet cleaned collectors by matching the right panel design to your cleaning pressure
  • Protects personnel and equipment by directing pressure release away from occupied areas
  • Replaces failed or aging panels on OEM and retrofit applications without replacing the entire collector

Flat vs. Domed: Which One Does Your Collector Need?

The single biggest factor in panel selection is your collector’s operating vacuum level. Flat panels are built for low-vacuum systems and work well on most standard baghouse and cartridge collectors. Domed panels are built to handle the repeated pressure cycling from high-energy pulse-jet cleaning mechanisms that would fatigue a flat panel over time. If your collector runs pulse-jet cleaning at higher pressures, or if you’re seeing premature panel failures, the domed design is almost always the right answer. Not sure which applies to your equipment? Call us with the collector model and we’ll confirm.
  • Flat panel: Low-vacuum dust collectors, conveyors, cyclones, elevators, silos
  • Domed panel: High-vacuum filter systems, pulse-jet cleaned collectors, cyclones, high-pressure vessels
  • Both styles: OEM and retrofit applications. Easy to install with integral flanges and premium gaskets
  • Both styles: Passive mechanical activation, no power required
  • Both styles: Standard and custom sizes available. Round, square, and rectangular configurations in stock
