Engineered for Continuous Industrial Presses and High-Temperature Environments

Collectors & Filters supplies and supports two FM-approved spark detection and extinguishing systems for Indiana facilities — the Raptor Spark by Boss Products and the FLAMEX system by Flamex Inc. Both detect sparks in ductwork and suppress them before they reach your dust collector. The right system depends on your application, water supply, and dust type.

Raptor Spark — Boss Products

FM Approved, ATEX certified, and NFPA 69/72/652/654 compliant. Manufactured in Schertz, TX. Collectors & Filters is an authorized representative for Indiana, Northern Kentucky, and Southern Michigan.
  • 40ms detector response time — monitors up to 6 independent inputs from a single control panel with continuous self-checking wiring on every input.
  • Integrates thermal probes and dust probes alongside spark detection — all wired to the same control unit. Includes 4-hour battery backup on loss of main power.
  • Purpose-built Raptor Gate abort gate, firebreak shutter, and fan stop outputs for a complete detection and isolation package.

FLAMEX — Flamex Inc.

FM approved, ATEX certified, and NFPA 652/654/664 compliant. Backed by a worldwide fire protection organization with factory-trained technicians for commissioning and service. Collectors & Filters supplies and supports FLAMEX systems for Indiana facilities.
  • The Minifog water mist system uses up to 85% less water than conventional sprinklers — minimizing damage to filter media and equipment during an activation.
  • Designed around your available water supply — most systems require 44–58 PSI minimum. CO2, nitrogen, and clean agent suppression also supported for dusts where water is not acceptable.
  • Each system is custom engineered to your application. The YMX 5000 detector operates from -40°F to +221°F and features automatic lens integrity testing each detection cycle.

Who This Is For

Spark detection and suppression systems are required any time a process generates sparks, embers, or hot particles that travel through ductwork into a dust collector. Common applications we see in Indiana facilities include:
  • Wood processing and cabinet shops with sanders, planers, or CNC routers feeding into baghouse or cartridge collectors
  • Metal grinding, cutting, and welding operations where hot sparks enter the duct system
  • Grain handling and food processing facilities with combustible dust and ignition risk
  • Facilities undergoing an NFPA 652 or NFPA 654 combustible dust hazard analysis that identified spark ignition as a risk
  • Any operation where insurance, an authority having jurisdiction, or a fire marshal has required a spark detection system

Problems This Solves

  • Detects and extinguishes sparks in the ductwork before they reach the dust collector, preventing filter fires and collector damage
  • Reduces the risk of a dust collector fire spreading back into the facility through the duct system
  • Supports compliance with NFPA 652, NFPA 654, and NFPA 664 combustible dust requirements
  • Minimizes water damage to filter media and equipment compared to conventional sprinkler activation
  • Provides automatic fan shutdown and abort gate actuation to isolate the collector during an event
  • Satisfies FM and insurance requirements for spark detection in dust collection systems
